Oh gosh, there’s that dress again.

I was cleaning out my closet. And for the fiftieth time, I pulled out a pleated dress from Express that I’d had in my closet forever.

It was a sleeveless pleated dress in coral. The color had caught my eye in the store but I never seemed to find the right occasion to wear it. Plus there was always some other outfit I’d rather buy instead.

“I really need to wear this,” I said to myself as I held it up in the sunlight to see if it was still in good condition.

But I had been saying that for years and had never acted on my conviction.

I set the dress aside.

I’m going to wear it today. It’s about time that I do.

Mixing It Up In A Pleated Dress

One thing that we as women tend to do, is to buy clothes that catch our eye in the store but let them sit in our closet for countless years before ever wearing them. And then, what’s funny is that we usually complain that we have nothing to wear.

Now if clothes were free, or retail therapy was covered by my insurance plan like I wish it was, then wasting precious closet space wouldn’t be such a big deal. But let’s be real, that’s not the case. Clothes, whether at a high or low price, cost money. And we aren’t about wasting money in the Sykes house! You with me?

I needed to take this 3-year old dress, and turn it into a chic street style outfit. And I figured all it would take was a fitted t-shirt.

As it turns out, I was right.

So if you have a similar sleeveless and/or pleated dress in your closet that you’ve been struggling to wear, grab your white tee and create your own vibrant street style like I do below!
