To say that I love shopping would be the understatement of the century.
Whether it’s a book, home decor or clothes, I get high off of the retail experience – and that’s online or in-store. However, something I have learned recently is the importance of quality over quantity.
Yeah I know, its cliche but hear me out.
When I was in college, I frequented stores with the sales mindset, i.e. going straight to the sales rack as soon as I walk into the store, or going to stores that I knew had lower price points. It wasn’t something I did for budget reasons, I just did it because I was thinking about the now, as in how could I spend $50 and get a lot of clothing for it that day.
But, that plan backfired.
The clothing I bought seemed to deteriorate overnight. There was unbelievable shrinkage, tears and color loss (no matter how great of a laundry detergent I’d used). My $50 or so had only had a lifetime value of a month and so back to the store I went.
This time though, I changed my mindset. Instead of trying to get the most bang for my buck in terms of quantity, I want the most bang for my buck in terms of quality. All that meant was that if I spent $50 on one item that I knew would last me at least a year, I would’ve saved money in the long run.
And without a doubt, this long maxi dress found at Fab’rik anchored my newfound perspective. This dress was the perfect piece for my wardrobe for many reasons. First, it was beyond comfortable! Second, it was age-appropriate and could be dressed up or down. Lastly, it could be worn during Fall, Winter and the Spring.
It’s definitely a winner that could be used for a casual work day, date night and so much more.
